Who we are:
Social and Humanitarian Assistance Organization (SHAO) is a national non-profit social welfare organization. SHAO was established by a group of Afghan intellectuals who had practical experience from various international and national organizations as well as related potential knowledge from abroad in the various aspects of humanitarian services. The key purpose of the innovation was to initiate a sustainable movement for the welfare and rehabilitation of the fractured society of Afghanistan. SHAO was founded in 2009, delivered humanitarian and social services in various parts of the county and has active presence in southern region of Afghanistan ever since. 

Strategic Objectives

• Enable accessibility of all children and adults to essential literacy and numeracy
• Improve employability capacities and skills of unemployed young men and women in the sectors of technical and vocational skills, agriculture, poultry, livestock and cottage industry
• Empower women for active participation in community development and decision making
• Improve health, hygiene and sanitation conditions of community
• Support the most vulnerable people in the relevant need sectors
• Support civil society structures and public participation in 
• Empower communities  to access to their rights and effective judiciary systems
